Our Unique, Truly Objective, and Vendor-Neutral Approach to Delivering IT Solutions
NIV Consulting, LLC takes a unique and objective approach to providing IT services. We are vendor-neutral and do not resell hardware or software for a profit margin, passing these cost savings on to you, and to all of our clients. Therefore, you and our clients pay exactly the same price (often times, at a wholesale or at a discounted price) that we pay for, all without any price markup to you or the client. With this approach, we can provide truly objective advisory and consultancy services, without having a vested financial interest in recommending, promoting, or selling a specific brand or product, as most other IT services companies and value-added resellers (VAR) do. Therefore, we are not a VAR and do not sell anything for a profit and can therefore, independently and objectively make IT hardware and software recommendations. We pride ourselves in being able to be truly objective to our clients in order to truly provide good advisory and consultancy services without putting you and our clients often times, in an uncomfortable situation, where they are being sold something that they know is significantly marked-up and that they are paying more than what they need to for their IT hardware and software. This is second thing that sets us apart from our competitors and why our clients count on us for their IT needs.
Among the IT Solutions That We Provide Are the Following:
Networking Solutions for Small and Medium-Sized Businesses
Networking saves money by allowing you to share Internet access, printers, scanners, fax machines, and to share data between computers. This means that you only need to have only one device, such as a printer and have it shared with many users. Networking allows users to share data with each other, greatly reducing duplication of work and different, conflicting versions of work data. If your business has more than one computer, you should consider networking them together.
The two basic types of computer networks are: Peer to Peer (networking PC's together without a server) and Client-Server (networking PC's to a server). Networking computers requires installing network interface cards (NIC's), also known as network cards or LAN cards. There are two types of network connections: wired and wireless. Wired network connections (using networking cables, or also known as Ethernet cables) generally provide faster connections with fast data transfer speeds and better reliability. They are best suited for desktop PC's and for servers. Wireless networks (using wireless NIC's) provide the convenience of mobility, without having to worry about cables and are best suited for laptops and for desktops, where running a cable to it is not a viable option.
The two following diagrams below illustrate a peer to peer network and a client-server network. The first one is a peer to peer network, where all computers are connected to each other and there is not a centralized computer. The second one is a client-server network, where all computers are connected to a centralized computer, the server.
